Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Jade:DS backend a drm? Or even spyware?
Jade:DS itself is no drm in general. We have titles, which don't require to run the client at all. It is
optional for the developer to query the license status of a product or to use the cloud functionality. In these
cases, a running client and a connection to the internet is required. We plan to add an offline mode soon.
And no, the client doesn't send or even read any data, which doesn't belong to the system.
Why Jade:DS and not a Little Indie client?
Both, Jade:DS and Little Indie are owned by the same company now. It is often asked, why we don't merge the brands finally. The simple answer is, that we neither want to limit the system to indiependent products, nor do we want to drop the little indie brand.
What happens to my games, if the platform is ceased?
The platform is designed to continue operations even under economical hard conditions by scaling the system to the demand. If all fails, we will provide a connection free version of the client, which stores the cloud data locally. All your investments in our games are safe for sure!
Install another client? Doesn't that polute my system?
The Jade:DS client has been designed with system resources in mind. It is extremly lightweight - it consumes only 10MB system memory and is cpu idle most of the time. Even tough it is recommended to run it in background to stay in touch with updates and messages of your friends, you don't need to run it all the time and some games run without it completely. So, yes, yet another client, but one you won't notice until you need it.
