Our latest "release"!
25.02.2013
Posted by SunAdmin
There hasn't been much action on Little Indie in the last weeks and there is a good reason for this:
Our latest "release project" was our newborn daugther, Maylea Ylvie! Born with 3520g and a height of 51cm, both, mother and child are fine and healthy. For the sake of our grown family, we reduced the amount of time for Little Indie for a while, but things should come back to normal now.
Another big change was our relocation, we moved from Velbert to Niestetal, where we built our new home and office. Sadly, the registration change took over two months, which caused even more lagging in our processes, especially regarding the subscription process. Please excuse these delays, we will need some time to catch up with these things. For our customers this means a new version of the license agreement, primarily with the updated address and contacts.
On the other hand, we haven't been lazy. With only limited time, we started to work on the backend again to provide a faster and better workflow, especially for developers, who place their games on our site. Developers gain much more control about their products and their presentation. Further, we're looking ahead for several new releases and hopefully the soon launch of LI:Backstage. Sadly, this nice project had to be shifted in priority for a long time now.
A minor change, visible to our customers, is the new filter available on the all products tab on the landing page. You can browse our games now by genre, features and other criteria. This became necessary with the growing number of titles available here at Little Indie!
Rate the Games!

A new exciting feature is now available at Little Indie: Players can now rate their experience with the games!
As the result of our first survey, the most customers expressed their need for a mechanism to rate the games available on Little Indie. After purchasing a game, you can give a rating in a range from one to five stars for the game. Further, you can leave a comment after the rating to give other players and the developer a deeper explaination of your thoughts. And the best is: Nothing is carved in stone here! You can change the rating and the comment whenever you like, e.g. to keep up with new updates or your long time experience with the game. New votes are locked for four hours to prevent jittering of the result and to allow the rating player to edit the comment for a while.
While delivering this new feature, the next big things are already in their boxes. Next week, we'll launch our own magazine pages named LI:Backstage. We'll report about our games, their makers and the development scene itself. Read about our visits to the most important events and what to expect next in the independent market. Followed by this, we'll finally open our forums to the public, allowing in depth discussions about our games and services.

Update: Due to some shifts with other projects, we had to move the LI:Backstage launch a few weeks, I'll update again when we can be more specific, although I hope for the next days!
In development, new games and new survey

Time to report about the latest development of Little Indie. After the public survey, we are now developing a rating system for the games.
Furher, we'll present an editorial magazine soon, called LI:Backstage - read about the games, their developers and the independent scene in general there.
Plus: Lots of new games available and on their way! Stay with us and take part in the new survey - we want to know, which genre you like to see next on Little Indie!
We're constantly developing Little Indie and Jade:DS, our distribution backend. To get in touch with you, the user, we started a survey about the most wanted feature on Little Indie. The result was clear, a rating system for the games is on top of the list, followed by a public forum. We heard this and are now developing the rating system, which should be available next week. The forum will follow very soon, being the next on our list.
As a follow-up, we started a new survey. Which is your most favourite genre, you would like to see next on Little Indie? We already have a wide range of genres in our catalogue, but we always want more games - and we want the games, you want! Let us know your opinion and vote!
But with all additions on their way - the most important thing about Little Indie are still the available games! Beneath our latest additions are a lot of advenure games, a genre, which was very rare here in the first months of Little Indie. As big adventure fans ourselves, we are very happy about this development. Follow with us the adventures of Reemus on his quest of his own ballad, enter the realms of deep space in Dark Scavenger or solve the mysteries of The Journey Down! Beside these geat adventure games, we have Solar Struggle for the more action oriented player and the very unique stealth game The Sun is Deadly, made by the creators of Pitman!
Heavy Server Crash
04.04.2012

Today we had a major server crash. We are still working on recovering the effects, as we had to move to a completely new server, but we progress fast and can say for sure, that we don't suffer any loss of data.
Starting with a hanging system this morning, we suffered a chain of problems with our server. This resulted in a non-bootable system, which had to be backed up by an external recovery system. From here it became evident, that it was not possible to get the old system running again in a satisfing manor. A harddrive is damaged and locked the server regulary. We decided to react quickly and started to move the system to a new server with bigger resources. Sadly, this ment - and still means - a downtime of the whole system. We are working with maximum efforts to get everything back running again, but this will take some more hours.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience resulting from this. Playing your games is not affected for DRM-free titles, only the cloud based titles won't be available during this down time. We will contact the developers to add a more optional approach to access the cloud based features to prevent the games being unplayable for future incedents.
Please note, that we aren't available by email yet, as we prioritize getting the game servers running again. We will update this message as soon as more subsystems are available again!

Update 1 (4:08 in the morning): We're almost there - the custom servers are up and running again, you can play the cloud based games again. Only the mail system is now missing.

Update 2 (14:43): We're available by email again now, which means, everything customer related is working again and we can get back to dayly business. Again, sorry for any inconvenience, but we're happy to get everything online again as soon as it was possible.
